Abstract (EN)

After the second half of the last century, the countries that wanted to eliminate the lack of working manpower, which emerged with the increase in industrialization and the effect of the second world war, went to recruit workers from other countries, and thus the migration of workers from Turkey to Germany began. Turkish workers who came to Germany alone, after the family merger, stripped of their guest worker identity and formed a society that lived with its own culture and values. This situation has forced Turkish families to adapt to an environment where it is difficult to maintain their belonging to religious, ethnic and familial identities as well as being the other. Turks came from an environment where family ties were strong and religious life was active, and they were caught between their culture and the dominant culture. Therefore, they faced problems such as adaptation and alienation. They have tried to overcome these problems thanks to the integrative and building effect of institutions such as religion and family. The subject of this study is; İnvestigate the identity and religion perception of second and third generation Turkish families living in Germany in the context of integration and alienation. This study, which includes second and third generation Turkish families living in Lahn Dill Kreis, in the Hessen state of Germany, was conducted on the ''Phenomenology'' pattern in accordance with the qualitative research method. Therefore; The data of the study were obtained by conducting interviews with 56 people through the 'semi-structured interview form' approach. Both generations of Turkish families in Germany have been found to maintain their ethnic, religious and familial identities in general according to their experiences. The efforts to protect family ties, the continuation of communication with Turkey for a reason, and the interest in places such as mosques where identities are freely reflected are promising for the future. However, despite the devotion of Turks, the ethnic and religious discrimination they faced negatively affected their religious lives, perceptions of identity, and their adaptation to Germany.
