Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to shed light on the life and poems of a poet who remains in the background of Turkish Literature. The poet, who is strongly attached to poetry, tries to reflect his passion and perseverance through his poetry. The poet publishes a total of nine books starting with the book titled Cümbüşçübaşı, published in 1958, concluding with the book titled Yırtıksız Sözler published in 1996. Ercüment Uçarı was born in 1928 in Beykoz. He puts Beykoz at the centre of his life and art. Beykoz is not just a neighborhood for him but a house, a wife, a lover, a life. He mentions Beykoz in all his books. He always creates his poetry from his own life. The poet in his poetry refers to the problem of urbanization, modern age, and to the loneliness of man in this age. The poet tries to escape from this age and city in most of his poems. He dreams of escaping from this age and city, returning to his own utopia, into past times, into his childhood and even into his mother's womb. The first two books of Ercüment Uçarı, Cümbüşçübaşı and Et reflect Garip style. In other books, the poet is influenced by other dimensions from İkinci Yeni and he writes his poetry in a different style. Throughout his life, the poet runs after poetry and puts forth a great effort for his poetry. Keywords: Ercüment Uçarı, Poetry, Beykoz, Urbanization
