Turkish adaptation, validity and reliability study of the sexual and reproductive empowerment scale for adolescents and young adults

In this study, which was designed in a methodological type, it was aimed to adapt the Sexual and Reproductive Empowerment Scale for Adolescents and Young Adults into Turkish and to make its validity and reliability study and to bring it into Turkish society. The universe of the study consists of undergraduate students aged 18-24 studying at Kastamonu University. The sample was determined as 250 according to the number of items. Personal Information Form and a 5-point Likert-type Sexual and Reproductive Enhancement Scale for Adolescents and Young Adults consisting of 23 items were used as data collection tools. Data were collected between 02.01.2023 and 23.01.2023 by face-to-face interview method. In the validity phase of the scale, language validity, content (scope) validity in which expert opinions were obtained using Davis technique, and construct validity using Confirmatory Factor Analysis and Explanatory Factor Analysis were examined respectively. In the reliability phase of the scale, cronbach's alpha coefficient and item-total correlation and internal consistency, test retest application and time invariance were examined. Data were analyzed with SPSS for Windows 22 package program and LISREL 8.80 package program. The content validity index of the scale was found to be 0.99. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test 0.874 and Barlett's Sphericity Significance Level Test x2=3511.034, p=0.000. In the Explanatory Factor Analysis, factor loads of all items were over 0.40 and the explained variance was determined as 74,668% and no items were removed from the scale. The fit index values evaluated in the Confirmatory Factor Analysis were found to be x2/SD:3.71 GFI:0.98 AGFI:0.97 CFI: 0.99 RMSEA: 0.074 SRMR: 0.053 and PATH Diagram factor loads between 0.41 and 0.91, respectively. out in December. The cronbach alpha value of the scale was 0.913 and the Spearman Rho coefficient was 0.893. As a result, it has been determined that the Sexual and Reproductive Empowerment Scale for Adolescents and Young Adults is a valid and highly reliable instrument suitable for Turkish society.
