Schema areas and schema coping mechanisms in internet addiction in adolescents

When we look at the general framework of the research, we examine the level of internet addiction in adolescents and the presence of early maladaptive schemas, and the coping mechanisms that cause the schemas to persist, such as disconnection from schema subdomains, damaged boundaries, damaged autonomy, other-directedness and hypervigilance; It was conducted to examine the relationship between schema avoidance and schema compensation. The research is a quantitative and descriptive research using the relational screening model. The study sample consists of students studying at course centers affiliated to Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in Mersin province between January and March, and volunteer students in the 14-19 age group receiving service from Merci Consultancy center. While collecting data in this study, Personal Information Form, Internet Addiction Scale for Adolescents (EİBÖ), Young Schema Scale-Short Form 3 (YŞÖ-KF3), Young Compensation Scale (YTÖ) and Young Avoidance Scale (YR-KÖ) were preferred. SPSS 21 program was used to analyze the research data. Frequency analyzes were performed for Descriptive Statistics. Relationships between variables were examined with Pearson Correlation and Multiple Regression analyses. There is a significant positive relationship between internet addiction and schema subdomains. Internet addiction includes impaired autonomy and schema coping mechanisms from schema subdomains; predicts schema avoidance and schema compensation.
