The relationship between sociotropic autonomic personality of adolescents on state anger and their anger expression

Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted as descriptive / relational research in order to examine the relationship between sociotropic autonomic personality traits and state anger and anger expression styles of adolescents. The study was carried out with 241 female and 149 male adolescents aged 14-19 from 5 highschools in Yozgat between 15.02.2016 and 15.05.2016. Before starting the study, permission was obtained from Yozgat Provincial Directorate of National Education and Bozok University Clinical Research Ethics Committee. Introductory information form, Sociotropy Autonomy Personality Scale, Trait Anger Expression Scale were used to collect data. Shapiro-Wilk test, t test, One Way Anova, Kruskal Wallis Test, Mann Whitney U, Post Hock Tests and Correlation tests were used to evaluate the data. The sociotropy mean scores of the adolescents were 69.32 ± 17.10, mean autonomy score averages were 69.20 ± 14.10, mean score of state anger was 22.84 ± 5.52, mean score of anger introvesion was 17.54 ± 4.32, mean score of anger expression was 17.61 ± 4.97 and mean score of anger control was 19.41 ± 4.94. In this study, sociotropic autonomic personality traits of adolescents and their age, gender, class level, high school type, number of siblings, level of sibling communication, family type, parents' education levels, family child rearing attitude, income level, trauma experience and participation in social activities were statistically significant (p<0.05). There were statistically significant differences between adolescents' trait anger and anger expressions and their gender, weight, grade level, sibling, sibling communication, family child rearing attitude, trauma experience and participation in social activities. (p<0.05). In this study, a significant relationship was found between sociotropic autonomic personality traits of adolescents and trait anger and anger expression styles. (p<0.05). According to the findings obtained from the study, determining the adolescent groups with risk within the scope of school health nursing services, giving anger symptoms, appropriate anger expression styles and anger control management trainings, providing adolescents with effective counseling services under the leadership of adolescent mental health nurses when necessary, as well as support of adolescents by family, school and nurses in order for them to have positive self-perception are all recommended.
