A field study on the relationship between religious beliefs and doubts in adolescence and psychosocial variables: The case of İstanbul

This study has two purpose. First one, to determine the level of religious belief and doubt of adolescents. The second aim is to reveal the relationship between religious belief and doubt with various psychosocial variables. The data was collected from 814 adolescents who are 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade students in six different kind of highschool two of which are imam-hatip highschool, three are anatolian highschool, one is a vocational and technical anatolian highschool, one is a fine arts highschool, one is a science highschool and one is a social sciences highschool in İstanbul. "Self information form", "Religious belief scale" and "Survey questions based on psychosocial variables" has been used in the study. The impact of the gender, class level, type of school, religious information level, feel guilt, questioning life, general life statisfaction, general psychological state, family and school environment, income and education levels of parents of the adolescents, relationship with parents of the adolescents on their religious belief and doubts were studied in this research. In accordance with obtained findings, there is meaningful differences between demographical and psycho-social variables and religious belief.
