Investigation of the connection between self-regulation skills with creative thinking in early childhood

In the present study, the connections between creative thinking and self-regulation skills of children were investigated. Total of 103 children aging between 60-72 months have, participated in the study. Creative thinking was measured with Test for Creative Thinking- Drawing Production (TCT-DP). The cognitive dimension of self-regulation skill was evaluated with Peg Tapping Task and The Dimensional Change Card Sort (DCCS), and the emotional dimension of self-regulation was evaluated by the Delay Graficiation Task. As a results of the analysis, it has been revealed that cognitive dimension of self-regulation ability is positively correlated with creative thinking of children. Results have also indicated a negative correlation between emotional dimension of self-regulation and creative thinking. Results of the regression analysis have revealed that both cognitive dimension and emotional dimension of self regulation predicted creative thinking of children. The results of the study were discussed within the framework of the literature.
