The period of National Struggle in the Armenian press and the novels of the 30 generations Modern Greek Literature

Nationalist movement that came up with the French Revoloution in the year of 1789, also caused divisions in Ottoman Empire as it did in all European kingdoms. Varios different ethnicg groups that have live under Ottoman Empire, wanted to become nation state over time by getting influenced of this movement. One of these grops were the Greeks who were subjects of the Ottoman Empire. Greeks that acted according to Megali Idea, made some rebel movements in areas that are inside the borders of Ottoman Empire. Balkans and Aegean Island became significant points throughout this rebellions. Especially riots that took place in Crete from the XVII. Century, many times came to crisis point between Ottoman Empire and Greece. Solutions that are brought by Great States couldn't become permanent, these disputes continued till Ottoman Empire's lose of Crete with the 1913 Athens Treaty. Venizelos who came to power in 1910 with this became an important figure in expansion of Greek lands. This process that started with the Balkan Wars, with the end of First World war led Greece to reach it's largest borders. Megali Idea which was created due to this gains, led Greece into a dead-end. This dead-end started with the defacto siege of İzmir in 15 May 1919 by Greek Army. At the same time Mustafa Kemal Pasha started War of Independence in 19 May 1919 by going to Samsun. Greco- Turkish War that started at the end of 1920, finalized with the defeat of Greek Army with Great Offence. The process after this period became difficult for people of Anatolia. Especially, Izmir became the adress of great conflicts; terrible occassions happened such as lootings, violence, fires. A big community mostly composed of Greeks and Armenians had to leave Izmir and its surroundings. Especially that is why events that occurred according to this process was called "catastrophe" by Greeks.
