Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study was to investigate ion exchange properties of natural montmorillonite taken from Erzurum-Horasan-Karapınar region. in this study, in which "Methylene Blue" method was used, the concentration of different ions of montmorillonite which have 63^m, 125//m, 710//m and 2000//mpartide sizes and "methylene blue" was measured in the UV-Vis spectrophotometer and relationshİp between the variation-ratios of ion concentration and partide size was examined. The curves of concentration versus time were plotted. The study showed that the concentration increased as the partide size decreased. in this study carried out with ionmeter, the ion exchange isotherms were plotted, order of ion selectivity was taken and the effective cation exchange capacity and total cation exchange capacity were calculated.The characterization of montrnorillonit particles was carried out with XRD,XRF methods. ion exchange was realized on 110°C via heating batch method on Na-montmorillonite in througlı 0,1 N KCl, CaCfe salt solutions. At the end of the process, As values were identified. Na-montmorillonite in 0,1N (K , Ca ~) forms were put in ion exchange process with 0,1 N HC1 acid solution. Ax values were identified with the values found at the end of the process. ion exchange isotherms were plotted and Na-montmorillonit's ion selectivity order between Ca+2 and K+ ions was identified as Ca+2>K+.Keywords: Montmorillonite, Clay, ion Exchange, Cation Exchange Capacity, ion Selectivity.
