Abstract (EN)
Although one of the functions of the term woman is to express biological sex, femininity in a way refers to a social status above all else. Femininity has continued to be a phenomenon that has made its presence felt in all areas of humanity and society for centuries. Woman has been defined and even categorized from various perspectives in both contemporary and historical texts. It is possible to witness almost every phenomenon related to women in various textual genres, and various names and definitions have been made for woman by the society, either with positive or negative meaning contents or neutral contents. Vocabulary for woman, which are shaped in very different classes, express, describe or characterize woman with different approaches at various levels. In Turcology, there are various researches on the vocabulary of the concept of woman. In general, there are many works in different types and contents that have survived from the Old Anatolian Turkic period, which covers between 13th and 15th centuries, and there are many researches on these works. However, especially in this period, which is one of the most important historical periods in terms of its special interest in Turkish, research and examination activities at the level of vocabulary focusing on the theme of woman are quite limited. In the present study, the determined works of the mentioned period are discussed in terms of the vocabulary of the "woman" theme and they are examined with the focus of the vocabulary related to women. All the items related to the theme of women are tried to be compiled, and the linguistic items that define the woman, as well as the effect of every aspect of the woman on the language are examined. Within the scope of this study, many titles are designed under13 different categories that directly or indirectly indicate the theme of women, with the data obtained from the examined works. All kinds of vocabulary items, especially the words and phrases identified in relation to the concept of woman, are subjected to basic analysis at the phonological, morphological or syntactic levels. In addition to these, sociological and, when necessary, existential evaluations and interpretations about the witnessed vocabulary items are tried to be presented and conveyed. In this way, issues such as how woman and femininity were evaluated in the relevant period, how women were approached, through the works written in Old Anatolian Turkic, are also examined, and solutions are tried to be brought about how to classify the relevant vocabulary. It has been tried to present data on various points such as how the phenomenon of women and many issues related to womanhood found a place both in the society and in the Works between 13th-15th centuries, how these were reflected in the texts and life, and what could be the clues about the perception of women of that period, in the geography where Old Anatolian Turkic was written. In this way, it is among the aims of this study that all these data obtained have the potential to turn into material that can be processed and evaluated within the scope of different disciplines. Thus, this study will make a small contribution to revealing the details of woman and femininity in Turkish society and life in general, and in Turkish sociology in a broader scale.
