Old Uyghur Turkish legal documents and vocabulary

The Old Uyghur Turkish legal documents are official documents that have been prepared by the Uyghurs in different periods. These documents which have various structures and contents such as commercial transactions, adoption, emancipation, testament, decisions about foundations, decrees, petitions, reports, and vouchers, present worthwhile knowledge from the linguistic and historic aspects. This work aims to collect all accessible Old Uyghur legal documents. First of all, a brief history of Uyghurs has been given. Later, in the light of findings, the legal system of the Old Uyghurs has been presented. Features and formulas of the documents have been evaluated in terms of subject. The information has been given about the legal and social structure of society. The content and common elements of the documents have been assessed. After the research history of Old Uyghur legal documents, concordance has been prepared. Transcription of the documents has been made according to the subject classifying. Then the documents have been translated into Turkey Turkish. The vocabulary has been determined and a grammatical index has been prepared. In the conclusion part, a general assessment of the documents has been given.
