Abstract (EN)
In this study, the archeological studies carried out in the Central and Eastern Black Sea coastline (Samsun - Ordu - Giresun - Trabzon - Rize - Artvin) and the Ancient History of the region were emphasized. Central Black Sea region is bordered to between the east of Sinop province and Melet River. The lack of high mountains in the Central Black Sea region provided the ground for the development of the region in agricultural area and transportation. The border of the Eastern Black Sea region is between the Melet River and Artvin Province. The extension of the mountains parallel to the shore had a negative effect on the social conditions of the region as well as the settlement, transportation and economy of the region compared to the Central Black Sea region. In line with the information obtained from ancient sources, various nations lived in the coastline of the Central Black Sea and the Eastern Black Sea during the Antique Period. Apart from these, it has been the field of struggle for the communities that make efforts to dominate this region. The geographic structure of the Eastern Black Sea Region, especially covered with lush forest, made it difficult to conduct research on the ancient period in the region. In the province of Samsun, which is located in the Central Black Sea region, both surveys and preparatory works have been made more frequently than in Ordu, Giresun, Trabzon, Rize and Artvin provinces in the Eastern Black Sea Region. Thus, the geographical structure of the region in the Eastern Black Sea region was favorable. Dündartepe and İkiztepe located in the province of Samsun, Kurul Castle located in the province of Ordu, Giresun Island located in the province of Giresun are important areas of archaeological studies in Central and Eastern Black Sea region. Keywords: Surface Survet, Excavation, Tumulus, Slope Settlement, Nekropol
