Surun, S. Retrospective Evaluation of Recurrence Cases in Basal Cell Carcinomas in the Head and Neck Region in Eskişehir and Its Surroundings. Basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is the most common primary skin tumor. The most common area where basal cell carcinoma is seen is the head and neck region, with a rate of 80%. Recurrences after surgical treatment in the head and neck region are inevitable due to both functional and aesthetic concerns. In our study, 109 patients who came to Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine Research and Practice Hospital Plastic Surgery Polyclinic between January 2010 and January 2023, especially in the head and neck region, who presented with Basal Cell Carcinoma recurrence clinic and were diagnosed pathologically, were retrospectively examined. . Demographic and pathological data of the patients were examined. Gender of the patients, age at diagnosis of recurrence, geographical region where they live, tumor site; localization, facial zones, histopathological type, surgical closure method before recurrence, time until recurrence, size, depth of invasion, lateral surgical margin, deep surgical margin, ulceration, perineural invasion and lymphovascular invasion were examined. Relationships and statistically significant differences between these parameters were evaluated. Comparisons were made with many different sources in the literature and its compatibility with the literature was evaluated. In addition, our study provided valuable information in terms of national data registration, as there are few studies on basal cell carcinoma recurrence, it is a 13-year long retrospective study, and it reveals many different characteristics of recurrent basal cell carcinomas. With these features, our study contains information that may lead to studies on recurrent basal cell carcinoma in our country and around the world.
