Abstract (EN)

Unguentariums have been an important part of daily life for centuries because they were used to store and trade products such as oils, perfumes and ointments, and they have been an important part of spiritual life because they are found especially in necropolis areas. Within the scope of this spiritual life because they are found especially in necropolis areas. Within the scope of this study, a total of 135 terracotta unguentariums in the inventory of Eskişehir Eti Archaeology Museum were typologically evaluated ana dated. The terracotta unguentariums subject to our study came to Eskişehir Eti Archaeology Museum between 1966-2022 through excavation, purchase, donation, confiscation and transfer. The 135 terracotta unguentariums, which were brought to the museum inventory through different means, were evaluated under four main types as Fusiform, Dome Mouth, Bulbous and Other Types and as sub-types under these main headings due to the changing characteristics of the artifacts such as form, contribution color, firing condition and internal chambers. During the evaluation of the terracotta unguentariums, first of all, a catalogue study was made with drawings and photographs of the artifacts and many sources were examined starting from the researches carried out in Eskişehir and its surroundings and dated by comparing them with similar ones. With our study, it is seen that the unguentariums in the inventory of Eskişehir Eti Archaeology Museum are typologically very rich and belong to the Hellenistic and predominantly Roman Periods.
