Abstract (EN)
Greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere as a result of human activities in the world have been increasing rapidly since the industrial revolution. Global warming and climate change, which started to be experienced on our planet due to the increase in the emissions of these gases, has accelerated the socio-economic and socio-ecological damages at different levels in all countries. The first and most important step in the fight against climate change, which is a result of this process, is the preparation of an inventory of urban greenhouse gas emissions from different sources.This master thesis, it is aimed to analyze the greenhouse gas inventory arising from electricity, natural gas, fuel, and LPG consumption in Eskişehir in 2019. While calculating greenhouse gas emissions, all greenhouse gases have been calculated by converting them into carbon dioxide equivalents, using the internationally valid default emission and conversion factors determined by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). When we look at the results obtained in this thesis study, it was determined that the total consumption of 13,792,308.95 MWh for 2019 was realized as 4,000,830,72 tCO2 emissions. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions per capita were calculated as 4.45 tCO2. Considering that the policies to combat climate change are determined locally in the universal, but the implementations based on these policies are foreseen to be realized from the local to the universal, we believe that the results will form an important database for the strategic climate change action plans to be made for Eskişehir.
