ANP approach to solid waste management system selection for Tepebaşı Municipality of Eskişehir

Prof Dr. Müfide BANAR2006, 162 pagesIn this study, an application was made about the solid waste issue that hasbeen very important for the local administrations in recent years and EskişehirTepebasi Municipality was taken as the main subject because of its many studieson environment until today.Duties and responsibilities of sub-municipalities were changed andobligated especially to apply recycling programs for the purpose of adaptation tothe European Union.Because the priority in this paper is to inform about the structure of solidwaste, this study found physical composition and humidity data in solid wastesamples in 32 communities of Tepebasi Municipality between October 2005 andJune 2006 period. Moreover, weekly analysis of heat value was prepared and fromthe composite samples that were prepared out of this model, heavy metal analysiswere prepared as a result of extraction of water with, PH, heavy metal contents(copper, nickel, zinc, chrome, lead and cadmium) and waste.In the second part of the study, 6 scenarios were created in the scope ofanalytical network process (ANP) management that is about developing a legallyrequired recycling program of the sub-municipalities. Then, Scenario 4a[Individual collection in %10 source (Waste that can be recycled is collecttogether in a group; paper, metal, plastic, glass) + collection in %5 recyclingcontainers + separation in % 5 sorting facility] was determined.Keywords: ANP, Solid Waste Management, Recycling, Sustainability,TepebaşıMunicipality
