Abstract (EN)
Throughout history, the Islamic scholars of the Indian subcontinent and the literature written by them have been the center of attention for the entire Islamic world. Amongst the islamic literature written by the scholars of this region, we find highly valuable works related to all the branches Islamic sciences such as the Qur'an, hadith, fiqh and tasawwuf etc. Ashraf Ali Thānvi, who lived in the twentieth century, is regarded as one of the most renowned and leading Islamic scholars of the Indian subcontinent. Thānvi, well known through his literary works and activities for the reformation of muslim society, has been the subject of study not only in Islamic countries but even in the Western world. In this dissertation, the tafsir Bāyân al-Qur'ān, one of the most important works of Thānvi, is examined from the viewpoint of Nazm ul-Qur'ān and Munāsabat ul-āyāt ve's-suvver disciplines of Qur'ānic sciences. In addition to this, the life, works and scholarly personality of Thānvi, along with the brief analysis of Bāyân al-Qur'ān tafsir and the method used in it, has also been discussed in this study.
