Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study was to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of Origanum onites (OO) powder 0.5-1% and probiotic Enterococcus faecium (EF) %0,2 to broiler diets on growth performance, visceral development, cecum microbiota, intestinal histology, meat characteristics and breast meat MDA values of broilers. In the study, 160 1-day-old Ross 308 male broiler chicks were distributed in 4 treatment groups (%0 C,%0,5 OO, %1 OO ve % 0,2 EF) and 4 replications of each treatment group (10 animals per replication). The trial was completed in 21 days as it was performed in 4-storey chick rearing cages. In the study, feed and water were given to the animals ad libitum. At the end of the study, the addition of EF and to the diets increased the body weight gain statistically. Feed consumption and feed conversion rates did not change between groups. Histomorphological parameters were not affected in the duodenum (P>0.05). In jejunum and ileum, villi length, crip depth, vb/crypt ratio and LMM increased in treatment groups (P<0.01), EF Supplementation increased the cecum content of Enteroccus spp species compared to control and 0.5% OO supplementation. Supplementation of 0.5% OO resulted in a decrease in the number of E coli compared to the other groups. The number of LAB did not change between groups. Supplementation of 1% OO decreased MDA formation compared to the control group. There was no difference between the groups in terms of internal organ development. Addition of EF decreased the gizzard weight compared to the control and 0.5% OO groups. While there was no difference between the groups in terms of meat characteristics, the addition of 1% OO increased the L value of thigh meat compared to the control group. As a result, it was determined that the dietary supplementation of EF and OO improved the performance values, increased the histological parameters in the intestine, and especially the addition of OO had a potential as an additive because it reduced the formation of MDA.
