The effects of infused olive leaf tea offered wi̇th drinking water to broiler chickens on performance,carcass,meat quality and intestinal histomorphgy and the number of some microorganisms

In this study, it was carried out to determine the effects of infused olive leaf tea offered with drinking water tobroiler chickens on performance,carcass,meat quality and intestinal histomorphology and the number of some microorganisms. In the study, 210 daily Ross 308 broiler chick and Gemlik type olive leaves collected from Yenipazar district of Aydın were used. Experimental groups consisted of 5 treatment groups (one control normal drinking water, the others 5, 10, 15, 20 mg/liter olive leaf tea prepared according to the infusion method) with 6 replications of 7 chicks in each. Feed and water were provided fresh every day. The results of the present study were that feeding broilers with infused olive leaf tea for 42 days was fed with feed intake, body weight, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, water intake, carcass yield, heart, liver, gizzard, edible viscera, abdominal fat, digestive system weight, digestive tract length, a* (redness) of breast and thigh meat measured at 45 minutes, pH of breast meat measured at 24 hours, a*, b* (yellowness), thigh meat a*, b* values, caecum Escherichia coli and While the number of Lactobacillus spp. and the thickness of the ileum lamina muscularis mucosal layer were found to be insignificant (P>0.05); pH, b* values of breast and thigh meat measured at the fifteenth minute, ileum villus length/crypt depth ratio (P<0.05); L* (brightness) of breast and thigh meat measured at 45th minute and 24th hour, pH of thigh meat measured at 24th hour, ileum villus length and crypt depth (P<0.01) were found to be significant. Accordingly, when the results of the study were evaluated in general, it was seen that giving 5, 10, 15 and 20 ml/l infused olive leaf tea to broilers on the 42nd day had a positive effect on intestinal villus length, crypt depth and illus:crypt ratio in general. However, this positive effect was not reflected in performance, cecum Escherichia coli and Lactobacillus spp. numbers. According to the data obtained from the study, it can be recommended that the ground olive leaf powder to be infused should be over 40 g, the new doses to be used should be higher than 20 ml/l, and these doses should be given with mixed feed besides drinking water in future studies.
