Abstract (EN)

This research includes analyzing E.D 's works, used symbols in terms of social events of period according to investigative art criticism method. In this research five images were analyzed on the basis of Edmund Feldman 's investigative art criticism method, this method is one of four disciplines (art criticism, history of art, aesthetic, art aplications). Edmund Feldman's method of investigative art criticism consists of the subtitles; description, analysis, comment and judgment. The research was patterned on screening model and conducted using descriptive analysis in this model-based qualitative research methods. Artifacts were examined by considering how plastic elements were used for what purpose, style, symbols used and social events of the period in which they were made. According to the results obtained in the research, artist's works reflect social and cultural factors in the general atmosphere and impact on society. At the same time it is the work of observing the dimensions of events influenced by the artist. The vivid colors and extraordinarily moving compositions that the artist uses in his works seem to be at a level that will excite emotions and audiences. It is also understood that the color in his works is never used only as a tool. Every color in his paintings is in the sense of meaning and emotion as the figures or objects that give life to the painting. Artist 's word 'the picture is only an art that appeals to the eye' has shed light on the understanding of painting until today's art. Key Words: Romantism, Eugéne Delacroix, Picture, Criticism.
