Abstract (EN)

Urban stormwater management is a significant tool in flood analysis and estimating the capacity of a drainage system. Engineers frequently use mathematical modeling of watersheds to solve urban flooding problems. Stormwater modeling is the quantitative analysis and exploration of novel stormwater design solutions by designers. The USEPA Storm Water Management Model (SWMM), (PCSWMM), (QQS), (DR3M), (HEC- HMS), and MIKE URBAN are just a few of the mathematical modeling tools widely used to address urban flooding issues. The purpose of this project is to develop, adjust, and evaluate an urban event-based rainfall-runoff model for the Boğaziçi neighborhood in the Mamak district of Ankara province, Turkey, using old (2018 and before ) and current infrastructural networks. Additionally, the current drainage system was simulated based on design storms with return periods of 2, 5, 10, 50, and 100 years. Three alternative scenarios with two different rainfall events were used to examine the drainage network's response. The results of three alternative scenarios, based on different indexes for urban flood forecasting, show that the fundamental problem with old drainage was an insufficient drainage infrastructure. The Rational method was used to estimate peak discharges for comparison and evaluation purposes with simulated values from SWMM. The result of different measurements for model evaluation shows that result shows that the model performs quite well.
