Abstract (EN)
The present study aimed to investigate the sexual self-confidences of married individuals through various variables. During the study, sexual self-confidence levels of married individuals were examined in terms of sexual self-efficacy, marriage life satisfaction, sexual embarrassment, and demographic characteristics (gender, style of marriage, duration of marriage, number of children, whether in extra job or not, educational level, type of profession, whether works or not). The sample of the present study included 336 married individuals living in İstanbul. Level of sexual self-confidence was assessed by using ?Sexual Self-confidences Scale? (Çelik, 2012a), data related to the marriage life satisfaction variable were collected through ?Married Life Satisfaction Scale? (Çelik, 2012b), data related to the sexual self-efficacy were assessed by using ?Sexual Self-efficacy Scale? (Çelik, 2012c), and the data corresponding to sexual embarrassment were collected by using ?Sexual Self-consciousness Scale? (Çelik ve Çakmak, 2012). Finally, other characteristics (gender, style of marriage, duration of marriage, number of children, whether in extra job or not, educational level, type of profession, whether works or not) were assessed through ?The Personal Information Questionnaire?, prepared by the author. The statistical analyses of the data collected through the assessment tools were conducted on the computer, by using ?LISREL for Windows, version 8.51, and SPSS for Windows, version 11.5? package program. Structural equation model was used to determine of predictors variables to sexual self-confidence. During the data analyses, besides descriptive statistics, One-Way Analysis of Variance was conducted in order to determine whether sexual self-confidence differed according to number of children, Welch test was conducted in order to determine whether sexual self-confidence differed according to educational level and duration of marriage, and Scheffe test and Tamhane?s T2 test were utilized in order to understand which variable played role in the resulted significant difference. Two-Way Analysis of Variance was conducted in order to examine combined effectson sexual self-confidence levels of married individuals of sex with married life satisfaction, sexual embarrassment, style of marriage, duration of marriage, number of children. Moreover, whether the sexual self-confidence significantly differed in terms of sexual self-efficacy, gender, extra job, type of profession, whether works or not was examined via T-test. Furthermore, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient was used in order to investigate the relationship between variables. Finally, effect size was determined via Eta Squared (µ²) values. In the structural equation model was found that sexual embarrassment, sexual self-efficacy, and marriage life satisfaction variables were predicted with a direct effect of sexual self-confidence, and sexual embarrassment, sexual self-efficacy to affect sexual self-confidence in a negative way, and marriage life satisfaction to affect sexual self-confidence positive aspects. In addition, result of the study was obtained that sexual embarrassment and sexual self-efficacy variables predicted with a indirect effect to sexual self-confidence by means of, marriage life satisfaction. İndividuals who had high level of married life satisfaction reported higher sexual self-confidence level, whereas Individuals had high level of sexual embarrassment, and sexual self-efficacy reported lower sexual self confidence level.Result of the study sexual self-confidence level is found higher for man than women, for individuals married with an agreement than married with arrangement, and for individuals have a job than not a job. Furthermore, the results indicated that as the duration of marriage increased, sexual self-confidence level tended to decrease. Sexualself-confidence levels of married individuals without children were found to behigher than marriedindividuals who have children. Sexual self-confidence level was found individuals who are teachers, worked inextra job and higher levels ofeducation. It is found that there wasn?t any combined effecton sexual self-confidence levels of married individuals of sex with married life satisfaction, sexual embarrassment, style of marriage, duration of marriage, number of children.
