Analysing the barrat impulsiveness scale points with the sociademographic data on teenagers whose parents are still marri̇ed or divorced

When puberty is considered as a phase in which a decision conflict, trying to find out an identity, risky and dangerous behaviors or desire to move away from family arises, it is discussed that whether the relationship of parents has some effects to overcome this situation. Aim: The aim of this study is to analyze comparing the impulse control disorder which has a key role in puberty, divorced or married couples and teens. Impulse control levels has evaluated by Barrat impulsiveness scale. The educational status of the parents, the gender, the age of the teens, the number of the sister or brother in the family, the residence in which she/he stays, the time that passed over the divorced date have also analyzed to detect their effects on impulse control disorder. Samples: This study has applied to 50 boys and girls, between 12-17, whose parents are divorced, to 50 boys and girls whose parents are stil married, and total number is 200. Methods: According to the study, BIS total number of the teens whose parents are divorced is 61,4±12,8 while the number is (61,6±13,0) (p=0,743), similar to those of divorced parents, about teens whose parents are married. BIS total number and all the subscale numbers has not much difference statistically. Although some diversities have been found on age group, the number of sister or brothes, duration of seperation, There has been no difference in gender of the teens and the educational status of the parents. Result: The divorce of the parents is not an independent factor that defines the impulse control disorder of the teens. It will be useful to analyze the impulse control disorder with other factors.
