The Contextual Index and Functional Glossary of Ayyubi's "Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman" literary work

Ayyubi is one of the relatively lesser known poets of the 16th century. This century is important particularly in terms of being the Ottoman Empire at the top and of being the most brilliant period of Divan literature. Beside the well-known great poets of that period, Ayyubi was very unknown and failed to announce his name in his time. For this reason, there is no extensive information about his life in the resources of literature. These literature resources are restricted not only from the point of his poetry and literary personality, but also from the point of his life. This thesis is based on the evaluation of 16th century poet Ayyubi's "Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman" contextual index and functional glossary. There are 1495 couplets within the "Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman". The word and word groups were determined while their meanings were entered individually according to their alphabetical order using the TEBDİZ program. Ultimately, "Contextual Index and Functional Glossary of Ayyubi's Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman" was revealed. During the construction of this explanation, dictionaries, encyclopedias, theses, history books were referred when necessary and personal comments were made to cope with the insufficiency of these literatures. The "Contextual Index and Functional Glossary" constitute the fundamentals of this thesis. Around this concept, the transcriptional and deductional text from the "Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman (Risâle-i Padişâh-nâme)" which was written by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akkuş, was basically referred revealing the vocabulary of the literary work. Consequently, the "Contextual Index and Functional Glossary" work was conducted. The words within the literary work were explained compatible with the world of meaning through the usage of the internet-based TEBDİZ (Contextual Index and Functional Glossary for History and Literature Texts). Hence, the contextual index of the "Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman Mesnevi" was produced together with establishing the functional glossary. Keywords: Ayyubi, "Menâkıb-ı Sultan Süleyman", Tebdiz, Wording.
