Determination of the ranking of factor analysis of team participated in the 2018 world cup

DETERMINATION OF THE RANKING OF FACTOR ANALYSIS OF TEAM PARTICIPATED IN THE 2018 WORLD CUP Akif Karataş, Spor Bilimleri Fakültesi, akif_karats@hotmail.com ABSTRACT Purpose: The purpose of this study has been determined performance indicators which have been affecting the match result in 2018 World Cup and reorganised. It has been to provide that these results has been providing that it would be used afterwards in different studies, especially in World Cup which would be arranged in the later years, as a tool for the development of football. Method: Descriptive / retrospective method has been used in the study. Findings: In this study, the ranking of football teams in the 2018 World Cup has been made factor analysis by using Opta data and the ranking which has been occuring in World Cup, has been remade by these factors. It has seen as a fact that the teams which has been shown as the most important success criteria affect the success of the goals scored. Except the goals scored by the teams as a result of this ranking,in other words its pass percentages, the importance of the team's contribution to defense has been increasing. In this case, the success of the teams has been indicating that the team's offense and defense should be balanced. In 2018 World Cup, the first factor that the teams which has been to close in point of offense and defense performance each other, has been located first four rank, has been summarising this situation. Conclusion: According to the data obtained in the study; when offensive power has been examined, Brazil, Spain, Germany and Croatia must be in the first four rank, respectively. Offensive power is the best aspect of a team, but it is not enough for a team to succeed alone. When the balance of attack and defense alone has been examined, in the general factor ranking has been Croatia, England, Belgium and France, respectively. In this case, it shows that the defensive power should be balanced along with the offensive power. Key Words: World Cup, factor analysis, football, ranking.
