Prophecy in Al-Farabi and Spinoza

The subject of our thesis; is the comparison of the prophetic thoughts of Farabi and Spinoza. The aim of our study is to show how Fârâbî and Spinoza to explain prophethood in their philosophies and to reveal the similarities or contrasts between the two philosophers regarding prophethood. This study consists of three parts. In the first part, prophethood in Fârâbî's philosophy and the philosophical basis on which Fârâbî explains prophethood are discussed. In addition, attention was drawn to Fârâbî's theory of revelation and the purposes of this theory. In the second part, prophethood in Spinoza's philosophy and the philosophical basis of prophethood are discussed. In accordance with the first part, Spinoza's theory of revelation and its consequences were examined. In the third part, an effort has been made to compare the views of prophethood and revelation of Fârâbî and Spinoza, which were presented in the first two parts, and to evaluate them by revealing their similar and different aspects
