Performance evaluation of participation banks in Turkey with COCOSO method based on different weighting techniques

Competition in the banking sector, which is of great importance for the country's economy, requires banks to use their resources effectively and efficiently. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out the bank performance evaluation and take the necessary measures as a result of the evaluation. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the financial performance of participation banks based on financial indicators between the years 2018-2022 by using the Entropy, CILOS, IDOCRIW and Cocoso method, which are among the Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) techniques. According to the results of the Entropy Criterion Weight Method used in determining the performance of participation banks; while the highest weighted criterion for 2020 was the Number of Branches, for other years this criterion was the Net Profit for the Period. According to the results of CILOS Criterion Weight Method; the highest weighted criterion was Total Equity in 2018 and 2021 and Total Loans in other years. According to the results of the IDOCRIW Criterion Weight Method; while the highest weighted criterion for 2022 was Total Loans, for other years this criterion was Net Profit for the Period. According to the results of Entropy, CILOS and IDOCRIW Criterion Weight Method; performance rankings of participation banks were made with the CoCoSo Method and Kuveyt Türk Participation Bank was ranked first in all criteria weighting methods between 2018 and 2022.
