Abstract (EN)
The main aim of the present study is to the ability bioremediation potential of the constructed wetland with different plant diversity for treatment of boron (B) mine effluent and investigates to effect of plant diversity on B removal process. For the study, one unplanted constructed wetland and nine planted constructed wetland as total of ten pilot-scale subsurface horizontal flow constructed wetlands established in the Kırka B reserve area. During the bioremediation test period of 154 days, constructed wetlands removed boron in wastewater between 38 % and 64 %. The highest B removal was achieved by mono-culture constructed wetland vegetated with Typha latifolia. We found that the main B removal mechanism is sediment storage in constructed wetlands. The plant competition in constructed wetlands leads to decrease of B removal efficiency in constructed wetlands. According to harvestable plant biomasses from constructed wetlands, we calculated estimated biogases and electric energy as a theoretically.
