Abstract (EN)

Pinecone, olive oil residue and sunflower farm waste was selected asbiomass samples in this study to investigate the effect of biomass constituents onthe pyrolysis. Thermal decomposition behaviour of biomass and its components(hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin) were examined by thermogravimetricanalysis and kinetic expressions were derived assuming a firs order reaction. Thevolatiles formed during pyrolysis were determined by TGA-FTIR. İn adition, slow pyrolysis was applied using a fixed bed reactor at 550 oC and product yieldswere calculated. The highest bio-oil yield of 32,36 % was obtained when olive oilresidue was used as a raw material. Bio- oils were characterized by elementalanalysis, column chromatography, GC-MS, FT-IR and TGA-FTIR. It wasdetermined that bio-oils obtained from hemicellulose and cellulose composed ofmainly furan, olefinic and aliphatics; bio-oil frm lignin is composed of phenoliccompounds and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons such as naphthalene, anthracene, phenanthrene. Keywords: Biomass pyrolysis, Hemicellulose, Cellulose, Lignin, TGA-FTIR,Pyrolysis kinetics, Characterisation
