Abstract (EN)

Porcelain tiles which have high wear, freezing, stain and chemical resistance, high mecanical properties. Aesthetical apperance is very important near the technical properties in these products. Especially, for increasing aesthetical qulaity, good polished surface is wanted in polished porcelain tiles. For this reason, high mechanical properties are needed during wearing and polishing. The aim of this study was investigated effects of different raw materials on some properties of polished porcelain tile. In polished porcelan tile, one of the important parameter of affecting stain resitance is closed porosity which is occured during sintering. By the liquid phase viscosity decresing, closed pores can be minimized. For this reason, boric acid, waste glass, nepheline syenite and petalite which have higher fluxing ability were used in this study. These raw materials were added to two different composition with different ratios and prepared samples were polished and applied stain, strength, color, firing shrinkage and water absobtion tests. Thus, the effects of using raw materials on the technical and aesthetical properties of porcelain tiles were investigated.
