Evaluation of the effect of CAD / CAM supported temporary prosthetic materials of different drinks on the color stability

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the effects of different drinks on the color stability of three different CAD / CAM temporary prosthesis materials in vitro. Vita CAD Temp (Vita Zahnfabrik, Germany), art Bloc Temp (Merz Dental, Germany) and Telio CAD (Ivoclar Vivadent, Liechtenstein) temporary prosthetic materials were used. A total of 120 samples, 40 pieces from each of these material groups, were prepared in a rectangular shape, 2 mm thick and 8 × 15 mm in size. Distilled water was used as the control group in the study. Three different study groups were prepared from Nescafe Xpress, Fuse Tea and Red Bull solutions. Color measurements of specimens were achieved by using a a spectrophotometer (Vita Easyshade,Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Sackingen, Germany) for three different intervals: before being immersed in solutions 1st days, and 14th days after aging in the solutions. Using the obtained color parameters, color changes were calculated according to CIE L*a*b* (ΔE*) and CIEDE 2000 (ΔE00) systems. The results obtained were evaluated by two-way ANOVA and Tukey test. Color changes were determined in all samples. The difference between the effects of the solutions on the color changes of the materials was found to be statistically significant (p˂0.05). According to the results, the lowest ΔE* and ΔE00 values were seen in Vita CAD Temp sample groups kept in distilled water at the end of the 1st and 14th days. Color changes occurred in all temporary prosthesis materials kept in different solutions. However, these changes are not clinically noticeable.
