Istanbul University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Prosthodontics. Istanbul. 2021 The purpose of this study is to examine the effects ofsurface roughening processes performed with different laser types on shear bonding strength of zirconium reinforced lithium silicate glass ceramics with composite resin. We divide the test materials into five groups according to surface treatments (n = 10). We apply HF acid, Er: YAG laser, Er: YAG laser + HF acid, Nd: YAG laser, Nd: YAG laser + HF acid surface roughening techniques to groups 1,2,3,4, and 5 respectively. To evaluate the surface roughnesses, we perform optical profilometer and SEM analyzes. Afterward, to each group, we apply silane, bonding agent, and composite resin of 3mm diameter and 4mm height with the layering technique. Than we subject the samples to thermal cycle application and shear bonding test in that given order, we examine their surfaces with a light microscope and classify the samples according to their fracture types. As a result of these experiments, we discover a statistically significant difference among groups related to the shear bonding strength (SBS). The highest SBS value detected is in Group 3 and the lowest in Group 4. The highest surface roughness was seen in Group 3.
