İnvestigating the attitudes of parents in different high schools towards physical education and sports course (Bursa province example)

The purpose of this study is to examine the parental attitudes of stundents in different high schools towards physical education lessons. The survey model was used in the study. The research universe consists of parents of 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students living in Bursa in 2023. The sample group was carried out with the voluntary participation of 204 mothers and 144 fathers, a total of 348, residing in Bursa. The 4-factor, 21-item 'Parent Attitude Scale Towards Physical Education Lessons' developed by Öncü and Güven (2011) was used in the study. SP 24.0 statistical package program was used in the evulation and analysis of the data in the study and descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage and mean value, aswell as t-Test and ANOVA tests were used in statistical examinations. As a result of the study, parental attitudes towards physical education lessons in Bursa are positively high. When parental attitudes towards physical education lessons were examined, it was determined that there were differences in education, gender, doing sports and watching sports news, while there were no differences in age and income levels. The fact that mothers had a high attitude in the gender variable made our study different.
