Abstract (EN)
Recently, as a result of the change in consumption habits with the increase in population, large amounts of wastes with various characteristics are generated. The sustainable solid waste management has a great importance in order to protect human health and environment, and to use the raw material and energy potential. In the study, it is aimed to develop an alternative for the disposal of fly ash from the solid wastes of biomass power plants, which are rapidly increasing in number in our country and are among the renewable energy sources. Due to the fly ash content, it causes significant environmental and economic problems. The amount of fly ash formed by increasing power plants also increases in parallel. Composting has been widely used in the world and in our country in recent years as an environmentally friendly disposal and recycling method. Although there are many compostable wastes, additives are often needed due to the characteristics of the wastes. In this study, the usability of biomass plant fly ash as an additive in the composting of different organic wastes was investigated. 5% and 10% biomass fly ash was used and compared to control process without additive in terms of compost quality and matsurity. The effective biomass fly ash rate was determined as 5%. As a result, it was observed that the fly ash of the biomass power plant reduces nitrogen and carbon losses in the composting process and increases the quality of the final compost.
