Impact of Different Chelating Agents on The Push-Out Bond Strength of Three Types of Root Canal Sealers The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of different chelating agents on the push-out bond strength of three different types of root canal sealer to root dentin. In the study, 40 single-rooted mandibular premolar teeth were used. Four horizontal sections of 1 ± 0.1 mm thickness were taken from the coronal part of the root of each tooth, and three canal-like cavities of 1 mm in diameter were formed in all root sections. The dentin sections were divided into three experimental groups (17% EDTA, 1% phytic acid, 1% peracetic acid) and one control group (distilled water) according to the chelating agents. After each group was immersed in the relevant solution, the canal-like cavities were divided into three subgroups (AH Plus, BioRoot RCS, GuttaFlow Bioseal) according to the root canal sealer to be used (n=40). The root canal sealers were placed in these cavities and after one week, the specimens were subjected to a push-out bond strength test. The specimens were also evaluated according to failure types. Data were analysed by two-way ANOVA. In all root canal sealers, the chelating agents used significantly increased the bond strength compared to the control group. The bond strength of AH Plus was highest in the EDTA group and significantly higher than phytic acid and peracetic acid (respectively p<0.01; p<0.001); phytic acid also showed higher bond strength than peracetic acid (p<0.05). The bond strength of BioRoot RCS was also highest in the EDTA group and significantly higher than peracetic acid (p<0.05); similar bond strength was observed in the phytic acid and peracetic acid groups (p>0.05). The bond strength of GuttaFlow Bioseal was not affected by the type of chelating agent used (p>0.05). In all irrigation solution groups, the bond strengths of the root canal sealers were ranked from high to low as AH Plus, BioRoot RCS, GuttaFlow Bioseal, respectively (p<0.001). In addition, the dominant failure type was cohesive in AH Plus and BioRoot RCS groups, while adhesive failure type was dominant in GuttaFlow Bioseal group. The interaction between the root canal sealer and the chelating agent used plays an important role in the bond strength. Although chelating agents showed different bond strength results depending on the type of root canal sealer used, they increased bond strength compared to the control group.
