Systematic review of philosophy journal: Its place and importance in philosophy research (1972-1990)

This master's thesis aims to classify the leading philosophy journal of Türkiye, Philosophy Journal, published between 1972-1990 under the leadership of Afşar Timuçin, to analyze its authors and the topics written, and ultimately to present it as a source for literature. Although the publication life of Philosophy Journal was interrupted at various times, it was one of the limited number of periodical publications in the field of philosophy that contributed to Turkish intellectual life. This study, which examines the journal, tried to find answers to some questions in general. These questions are: To examine the development of philosophy in intellectual life in the world and in Turkey. To analyze the content of the journal in question, to create an index of authors and contents. To try to determine the philosophical tendencies of the philosophical contents published in all issues of the journal. To try to determine the place of the journal in Turkish philosophical thought life. To try to understand what it has brought to the thought life of our country. In the sections of the thesis, respectively: The emergence and development of philosophy in the world from ancient times to the present is emphasized, philosophical studies in the West and the Ottoman Empire are discussed, and finally, the foundations of philosophical thought in Turkey are emphasized. The development of journalism in the world and in our country is discussed, and then the "Philosophy Journal", which forms the basis of our research specifically in philosophy journalism, is introduced. The journal that is the subject of the thesis is analyzed, the internal and external features of the journal, prominent local and foreign writers are emphasized, and an attempt is made to analyze philosophical articles. In addition, the establishment of the Philosophy Journal, its entry into publication life, its founders and their views are evaluated, and the physical appearance and organization of the texts are examined. The journal generally introduces the most emphasized philosophical movements that have been the subject of articles, and attempts are made to determine the philosophical tendencies of the authors.
