The correspondences between Sadr al-dīn qunawi and Nasīr al-Din al-Tūsī in the convergence of philosophy and sufism

In this study it is aimed to detect its place and importance of Islamic philosophy in correspondence between Sadr al-Dīn Qunawi, who lived in the 13th century in Anatolia -an important person of Islamic msyticism- and Nasīr al-Din al-Tūsī,who is a prominent scholar of Islamic thought in the same era. During the period of Sadr al-Dīn Qunawi and Nasīr al-Din al-Tūsī, the Mongols occupied many regions, including Anatolia, and interfered with the progress of scientific activities. In such a period, Anatolianscholar interested in Sufism and and a wise man engaging with philosophy exchanged viewson various metaphysical topics with each other, these correspondences were gathered in a book called al-Murāsalāt. This book is of great importance in the determination of the relationship between the philosophy of Sufism and philosophy in the 13th century. With this study, the reason for writing of the correspondences, the process of writing and the current manuscripts were informed. The content of the al-Murāsalāt was compared mainly to the other works of Qunawi and Tūsī. Two different perspectives of both scholars were referred while discussing the matters regarding metaphysics in this study. Accordingly, Sadr al-Dīn Qunawi's views in philosophy, sufistic ideas of Nasīr al-Din al-Tūsī and the relationship between philosophy and mysticism in the 13th century.
