Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to determine the character and value trends of science teacher candidates related to genetically modified organisms (GMO). The study of phenomonology, one of the qualitative research methods, was conducted with 23 science teacher candidates who studied in the fourth grade. Three open-ended data collection tools were used to determine the ecological worldview, socioscientific accountability and social and moral compassion of the prospective teachers in the context of global citizenship character and value trends related to GMO. The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The character and value tendencies of the teacher candidates were examined under personal, social and global dimensions. As a result of the findings, it was determined that teacher candidates ' character and value tendencies related to ecological worldview, socioeconomic responsibility and social and moral compassion were mostly based on social perspective.
