Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to determine science and elementary teacher candidates' metaphoric perceptions of some basic science subjects and concepts. The sample of the study, which uses the survey model, consisted of sixty five science and one hundred twenty eight elementary teacher candidates enrolled to the departments of science teacher training and elementary education in a state university. In the study, as a data collection tool, the form developed by the researcher, which aims to identify participants' perceptions of sixteen science subjects and concepts, was used. In the analysis of the metaphors created, content analysis method was used. As a result of the analysis, the metaphors, their percentages, codes and categories generated were tabularied. So, both science teacher and elementary teacher candidates' perceptions of the metaphors they created for each science subject and concept was revealed.
