Abstract (EN)

In this study, it has been tried to determine the current behaviors and attitudes of university students studying in faculties of education about environment and environmental problems. With this study, behavioral scale towards environmental problems were applied to a total of 727 prospective teachers, including 334 from Necmettin Erbakan University and 393 from Gazi University and, an attitude scale towards environmental problems were applied to a total of 770 prospective teachers, 329 from Necmettin Erbakan University and 441 from Gazi University. The study group of the research consists of the first and fourth year students of Social Studies education, Turkish Education and Science Education department at Gazi University and Necmettin Erbakan University in 2018-2019 fall term. The first-year students' behavior scale consists of 366 people and the attitude scale consists of 388 people; he fourth-year students' behavior scale consists of 361 people and the attitude scale consists of 382 people. In this study, in order to reveal the behaviors and attitudes of the students in some departments of the faculty of education, the attitude scale for 45-item environmental problems formed by Güven (2013) and the behavior scale for 40-item environmental problems also formed by Güven were applied. The quantitative data were analyzed by SPSS 21 statistical analysis program. In the analysis of the quantitative data, descriptive statistical techniques, independent groups t-test and one-way anova were used and the significance level was accepted as 0.05. With this research, attitudes and behaviors of students studying in some departments of education faculties about environmental problems were determined, and by finding out how many pre-service teachers from which branch reached this level, it has been determined whether there is a significant difference between the pre-service teachers' department, class level, economic situation, attitudes and attitudes towards university and environmental problems.
