Determination of science teacher's sustainable development awareness and views

In this research, it is aimed to determine the views of science teachers' sustainable development awareness. The sample group of the study consists of 102 science teachers working in Ağrı city center and central villages. In the study, "Sustainable Development Awareness Determination Scale (SDADS)" and "Opinion Form on Sustainable Development and Zero Waste (OFSDZW)" were used as data collection tools. Qualitative data obtained with OFSDZW were analyzed by content analysis and descriptive analysis. SPSS 22 package program was used to analyze the data obtained from SDADS and independent t-test and one-way variance analysis (ANOVA) were used. As a result of the analysis of the study data, a statistically significant difference was found in science teachers' sustainable development awareness according to the age and seniority years. No significant difference was found according to the gender and educational background variable. It has been concluded that science teachers have a general knowledge about the concepts of sustainable development and zero waste, but their knowledge in some subjects is insufficient. At the end of the research, suggestions were made to raise awareness of sustainable development and zero waste awareness, and to use renewable energy sources.
