Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the opinions of teachers who have to give online or distance education during the Covid-19 pandemic process, about online education and face-to-face education in science education. For this purpose, the "Google form" consisting of semi-structured open-ended questions was sent to 40 science teachers working in Samsun city center or districts, and qualitative data were obtained. In this study, in which the phenomenology design was used, the data obtained from the semi-structured interview form we prepared through the Google document were analyzed by content analysis and the results were discussed.Teachers stated that online education has advantages such as effective use of time, skill development with the use of technology, being economical, teaching the subjects within the framework of the curriculum, and that it can be considered as a useful application for these reasons. However, they state that there may be significant problems in online education due to low student motivation, the inability to learn the subjects permanently, the lack of effective communication and instant control or feedback, the lack of technology and the deficiencies in the use of technology. When they compare online education and face-to-face education in science education, they definitely state that face-to-face education is more suitable for the nature of science, online education is difficult in terms of experiments and applications, and it is more effective in terms of gaining skills and behavior. According to the data obtained, it was concluded that face-to-face education should be used effectively in science education. However, when teachers' opinions are evaluated, it is concluded that online education is effective in terms of space and time use, and it is thought that it will be beneficial to use both together when necessary. Digital developments all over the world and globalization of communication necessitate distance or online education.
