Abstract (EN)

ASTM E-399 standard used for the determination of the fracture toughness of metallic materials. According to this standard the determination of the fracture toughness of ferritic steels, large samples (size requirement) should be tested for the providing of plane deformation requirement. To recover size requirements, ASTM E-1921 standard have been developed on the determination of the fracture toughness of ferritic steels. As for that study, both eliminates the standard ASTM E-1921 contained in fractured sample using and also new method is used as an alternative to the two standard. This method is based on the fracture toughness of the material connecting the basic mechanical features, but also explains the nature of the fracture. The fracture toughness is determined due to the method used in this study with a very simple and low cost. Researches were conducted on changing with a rate of only C low-alloy four different steel. Thus the determination of the fracture toughness is used alternative method, rate of carbon in the ferritic steels investigated the effect of the fracture toughness.
