Çorum the conquest to Ottoman

Geographically situated in the middle of Anatolia, Çorum is a rich historical background city with its possession in underground and above-ground resources and proximity to migration routes.These strategic features have made Çorum a battleground since ancient times, leading to its invasion by various empires. This constant turmoil not only has adversely affected the city's development but also it caused challenges for preserving its historical and cultural heritage. Since with the conquest by Danişmend Gazi,Çorum came under Turkish rule, by evolving into a military force during the Anatolian Seljuk period. However,the city gradually lost its military significance due to the influence of religious convention and the Mongol invasion.Located in a region which was prone to wars, migrations, and uprisings, along with its situation of absence from major trade routes, Çorum faced political and social instability, which were one of the most crucial factors in its decline.After the 16th century, Çorum experienced limited economic recovery with the result of various administrative changes within the Ottoman system, alternating its statute between a district center and a subdistrict.Because of these unfortunate events, Çorum failed to achieve the level of development expected during both the Anatolian Seljuk and Ottoman periods.
