Abstract (EN)
The last quarter of the nineteenth century is a period when the United States of America faced devastating transition and experienced an intense mentality change. When this mentality transformation combined with economic reasons, it has prepared the basis for the United States to rise to the world stage as a colonial state. The Spanish-American War was a substantial prelude during this period. As a result of the war, a colonial administration was established in the Philippines, one of the Southeast Asian archipelago. This administration is remarkable in terms of clarifying the contrast between the United States as a colony which was once a under the governance of Great Britain then achieved its independence and United States as a country turned into a colonial state. Philippines is the first United States' colony. It is also a first example of the United States administration over Muslim population. United States held this colony for half a century, insisted to domesticate the American culture and democratic institutions there by an unprecedented transformation policy.
