The view and contribution of the bank the managers to the efforts to improve financial literacy: The case of Bursa

Nowadays individuals who participate in financial system with specific reasons meet various problems, opportunities and alternatives together with a number of changes in financial markets. The ability of individuals to produce solutions to all these situations is possible with financial literacy. It is only possible with financial literacy for the individuals to be able to find solutions to all these circumstances, to utilize the opportunities and to make the best choice among the alternatives. In the research of this study, phenomenological design was used as qualitative research design and interview technique was used as data collection method. Questions were prepared to determine the contribution and perspective of bank directors on development of financial literacy and face-to-face meetings were made with bank directors. These interviews were held with 30 bank directors who work in 26 different banks with different titles. Data achieved from the interviews were analyzed with descriptive analysis method. Moreover, definition, content and effects of "financial literacy" and "financial education" concepts were researched in individual, national and global perspectives. We tried to determine the point of view and contribution of bank directors in Bursa in development of financial literacy following the literature research about the studies performed in Turkey and throughout the world.
