Abstract (EN)

This study investigates the thirty-second volume of Firdevsî-i Rûmî's eighty one-volume masterwork, Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr. Two copies of this particular volume exist: one being located at the Topkapi Palace Museum Library (Hazine 1528), and the other being housed at the Istanbul Muncipal Library's Cevdet Manuscript Collection (B.26). Three sections, including an "Introduction," "Texutal Critiuque," and "Index," comprise the corpus of this study. Section One looks the book's title, its editorial life, the works contained with it, and the themes alongside the language and tone of those works. It also takes into account the book's importance both linguistically and historically speaking within the Turkic context, the use of round and unrounded vowel-based suffixes unique to Old Anatolian Turkish, both copies of the text, and other studies done on the text [by other scholars.] Section Two compares and contrasts both copies of the manuscript with translations—with all differences being highlighted in the footnotes. Lastly, Section Three contains glossary and an index arranged alphabetically and according to word groups, verbs, and compound verbs, complete with their Modern Turkish equivalents. All suffixes associated with each word are also listed and indented immediately below them, alongside page and line numbers indicated where in the book they are to be found. Keywords: Firdevsî-i Rûmî, Firdevsî-i Tavîl, Süleymân-nâme-i Kebîr, Old Anatolian Turkish, Prophet Solomon
