Abstract (EN)

The 15th and 16th centuries are an important century in terms of works fetihnâmes (letter of conquer) and gazavatnâmes (a literary text about the struggle or battles fought against an enemy). Süleymannames – i.e. literary texts themed around Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and Prophet Suleyman (Solomon) – were penned during this period. Süleymânnâme-i Kebîr by Firdevsî-i Rûmî talks about the Prophet Solomon ,and touches upon branches of sciences including mythology, medicine, history, geography, chemistry and alchemy, and offers advice and wisdom – thereby having an encyclopaedic quality. This study focused on volume 28 (out of 81 volumes in total) Suleymanname-ı Kebir, from the Topkapı Palace Millet (National) Library (number: H.1527). Within the scope of this volume, introduction mentions about the genre of Suleymannames, and determnation of palace of the Solomon in holy scriptures and mythology. The section one gives information about the life and works of the book's author, and the structure and content features of the theses and dissertations made so far based on Süleymânnâme-i Kebîr, as well as theses, articles, and books, primarily manuscripts. The section two includes the form and content features of the volume 28 specifially. The section three includes a copy the text, and mentions about the methods used to prepare it. The conclusion discusses the volume's general condition, and summarizes what has been learned.
