The authenticity and evaluation of hadiths related to price stability

This study addresses the issue of price stability within the framework of hadiths and examines the authenticity of these narrations. Principles concerning price balance in Islamic economics are of great importance for both the preservation of economic justice and the welfare of society. In this context, the Prophet's practices regarding price setting and market regulation reveal the moral foundations of economic life. The research specifically examines hadiths related to neceş (artificial price inflation), narh (price limitation), talakki'r-rukban (purchasing goods from merchants traveling from outside the city en route), and ihtikâr (hoarding). These narrations were evaluated in terms of their chains of transmission and textual content, and their attribution to the Prophet was analyzed alongside their consideration for the public interest (common good). In conclusion, it was determined that the prohibitions mentioned in these hadiths aim to maintain market balance, ensure justice, and strengthen social welfare. Thus, it is concluded that the Islamic approach to price stability is based not only on economic considerations but also on a moral and social understanding of order.
