Abstract (EN)

After the back and neck pain, the third common health problem in society is shoulder pain. In shoulder capsulitis pain and with the pain, shoulder movements begin to restricted progressively. In the treatment, simple analgesics, anti-inflammatory drugs, subacromial and intraarticular injections, physical therap are used for analgesic purpose. In standard conservative treatment approach, the most important part is, exercise. For the shoulder periarthritis treatment, the most widely used application is intraarticular corticosteroid injection. Between two corticosteroid injections there must be at least 4-6 weeks, if there is no benefit from the first injection, the injection must not be repeated. Also corticosteroids have systemic side effects in the local applications. Because of these reasons, ozone therapy come to question which is claimed a new therapy tecnique and no side effects. The study was conducted on 37 patients. Group 1 (n = 14) covers, patients who diagnosed shoulder periarthritis, approved for physical therapy and rehabilitation program and made a single intraarticular injection of 10 cc ozone by physical medicine and rehabilitation specialis. Group 2 (n = 16) covers, patients who diagnosed shoulder periarthritis and approved for physical therapy and rehabilitation program. 7 cases was accepted as a preliminary study and were not inclusioned to the study. In the study, both groups performed the classic 15 sessions of physical therapy and rehabilitation program. Patients evaluated 3 times: before treatment, after treatment and 1 month later after the treatment. In the evaluation pain intensity, normal range of motion, muscle strength, shoulder functional assessment, psychological situation and daily life activities were evaluated. There is no significant difference (p?0.05) was found between the groups compared to the values of pain intensities during the resting and activity; shoulder flexion, abduction, internal and external rotation, elbow flexion; deltoideus, supraspinatus, infraspinatus and biceps brachii muscles' strenght; Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI) scores; Beck Depression Inventaire (BDE) scores; Short Form-36 (SF-36) of all parameters of patients before treatment, after treatment, and 1 month after treatment . According to the results, well regulated and supervised exercise program that includes physical therapy and rehabilitation is alone effective in the treatment of shoulder periarthritis. Intraarticular ozone injection was not contribute significantly which was added to the physical therapy and rehabilitation program. Key Words: Shoulder Periarthritis, Intraarticular Ozone, Injection
